Heat oven to 350°. Pulse 10 oz. canned salmon in a food processor, until finely chopped. 2. In a standing mixer, combine salmon, beaten egg and 2 cups whole wheat flour, until dough forms. If the dough is too dry, add up to ⅓ cup water. If the dough is too wet or sticky, add a bit more flour. Dough should be tacky but not sticky. 3. Roll out dough on a floured surface, until about ¼-inch thick. Use a ¾-inch cookie cutter in the shape of your choice to create your treats. 4. Place treats on a parchment-lined baking sheet, and bake at 350° for about 20 minutes. When they’re slightly browned and crunchy, they’re done. 5. Allow to cool before serving. Store in an airtight con- tainer for up to 2 weeks. Yield: Makes 120 small treats. DOGGONE PURRFECT SNACKS We all want the very best for our pets. FIDO’S BONE-I-FIED FAVORITES Source: Isabel Alvarez Arata Ingredients • 2 cups whole wheat flour • 1 tbs. baking powder • 1 cup natural peanut butter with NO XYLITOL* • 1 cup skim milk or dog-safe substitute • Bone-shaped cookie cutters Instructions 1. Preheat the oven to 375°. Combine dry ingredients in one bowl. Combine peanut butter and skim milk in another bowl. Add wet mixture to dry, and blend well. Turn out dough onto a lightly floured surface, and knead. Roll out dough to ¼-inch thickness, and cut out bone shapes. 2. Place on a greased baking sheet, and bake for 20 min- utes, or until lightly browned. Cool completely on the rack, and store in an airtight container for no longer than one week. Yield: Makes about 30 3-inch bones. * Use only natural peanut butter, as processed peanut butter may contain additives that make dogs very sick.
