It was the perfect local getaway, and now we have our special place to escape to that’s just 25 minutes away.” Emily Huneycutt, owner of 6-year-old miniature pinscher Pipa, even opted to have her fur baby as part of the nuptial announcement. The pint-sized pup appeared in engage- ment photos, lovingly sandwiched between Emily and her husband, Jonathan Jones. So it came as no surprise that she would certainly have a starring role in the couple’s big day. “The day my husband – boyfriend at the time – brought Pipa home, we knew she would be involved in every mile- stone we had,” said Huneycutt. “We are absolutely crazy dog parents. The first question we asked every venue was, ‘Can our pet be involved?’ If they said ‘no,’ we immediately moved on to the next location. There was never any doubt she would not be standing with us on the day we both said, ‘I do.’” The day these two tied the knot, Pipa pulled double duty as their flower girl and bridesmaid. Dressed in a delicate lace dress, she sauntered down the aisle with their wedding rings securely tied to her collar. She even enjoyed a bowl of food at the table with the rest of the wedding party. … but opted to sit out the dancing and retire to the dressing room for some much-needed sleep. “We were married at Riverwood Manor, and the guests absolutely loved Pipa,” said Hunycutt. “They gushed over her and her little bridesmaid’s dress. We did let everyone know that we would have our dog there when we sent out RSVPs though – just in case someone was allergic. All in all, the day was a perfect success.” Before Megan and Eric Paulini ever thought about what flavor wedding cake they would have on the big day, they explored Pinterest wedding ideas for their two female mini goldendoodles, Molly and Murphy. With the purchase of flower crowns from Etsy and the hiring of a dog handler from Rover.com to keep the pups on point, the day went down without a hitch. “They are like our children,” said Megan Paulini, who was married at Willow Falls Events in Hendersonville, North Carolina. “You wouldn't leave your children out of the best day of your life, would you?” In addition to looking ethereal in their floral accents, Molly and Murphy got a special shout-out during the ceremony. “Eric's cousin, Erin, married us, and she very cutely worked them into our vows as well,” said Paulini. “At the beginning, when she was asking our parents for their bless- ing, she asked if they would babysit our current and any future fur babies while we are on vacation. They reluctantly agreed. I kid. They love their grandpuppies.” U
